About me

Johanna Wichmann

Hello! My name is Johanna Wichmann. I am a computer science major at Rochester Institute of Technology looking to graduate in 2027 with a BS degree. I have been interested in technology for a lot of my life especially when I had joined technology class in middle school. That led me to join a robotics club and learning how to build robots and code them to compete in obstacle courses. From there, I've slowly been learning on my own and through classes in high school about code and computer science. Besides technology, I also love anything in the liberal arts like music, reading, and writing. I've played the clarinet since I was 10 and it has followed me for most of my life. I have also read hundreds of books throughout my life and english has always been another big passion of mine. I am driven to learn more about technology and the liberal arts.

Washingtonville High School

I graduated from Washingtonville High School in 2022 14 out of 344 in my class with a 4.01 GPA. In high school I was a part of multiple clubs including Gems in STEM (a club for girls in stem), Pep Band, Drama Club, National Honor Society, and Teens Against Violence. I was also in the schools select orchestra for 4 years straight playing the clarinet. Along with clubs in school, I was apart of a few clubs outside of school such as Girl Scouts, Teen Advisory Board of Moffat Library, and Battle of the Books which was a yearly reading competition. On top of fun actiivites, I also worked a job for 3 summers consecutively helping care for a library's lawn.

Rochester Institute of Technology

After high school, I am now attending RIT. Throughtout this year, I have improved upon many skills such as my skills in Java, Python, HTML, CSS, VScode, InteliJ, and PyCharm. I have learned a lot more about coding since coming here and hope to improve more and more every year. I have also joined a few orginizations such as Computer Science House, Women in Computing, and Game Symphony Orchestra. These groups have helped me learn so much more about programming and have kept me in touch with my love for music.
